Most golfers have heard the old saying that golf is 90% mental! I do not agree with that in most cases but I do believe strongly in understanding your mental approach to the game. The best players in the world have great physical talent. I have seen many players from the junior level, the country club level, the college level, and the professional level who have very good physical skills. These physical skills must be complimented with good mental skills ranging from a precise pre-shot routine, a post-shot routine, course management skills, proper breathing techniques, great awareness to your body language, ...etc. These are skills and require attention and practice just like your full swing, short game, and specialty shot's. As Bob Rotella once wrote: There is no such thing as "muscle memory". Your muscles have no capacity to remember anything. Memory resides in your head. Therefore, no matter how long you practice a swing, no matter how skilled you become, your muscles alone can't remember it and execute it when the need arises on the golf course. Your muscles and the rest of your body are controlled by your mind. Unless your mind is functioning well when you play golf, your muscles are going to flounder. If your head is filled with bad thoughts, your scorecard is going to be full of bad strokes! You will never know how good you can become unless you commit yourself to developing both your physical and mental skills.
GREAT QUOTES
*Be your own best friend. *Play to play great. Don't play not to play poorly. *When I stopped caring about score and surrendered to the process and just played, I began truly to experience and enjoy each shot, and I began scoring better. *Letting it happen is not making it happen. *Letting go is a product of faith. *See where you want the ball to go before every shot.

PRACTICING
I there is one thing I am constantly stressing to all of my students regardless of their skill level it is " golf is most often practiced in a different environment than it is played"! Every one of your practice sessions should be organized. You should have a game plan for what you want to get accomplished before you begin your practice session. This is your opportunity for improvement so "get it done"! With this in mind you can not ignore the importance of practicing full shot's, pitches, chips, specialty shot's, putt's, ..etc with full intention to a target, using a consistent routine, and doing your best to create an on-course situation and on course environment. We all become very aware of shot's, situations, and environments that may give us added anxiety, lack of confidence, and lack of trust. These shot's and situations are what should drive you more to address these areas and strive to improve them. Many world class coaches I have listened to continue to express the importance of "putting yourself in the environment"! This can be done on the practice areas or with on-course practice. Find the situations you struggle with and practice them. For those players who are competitive find ways to compete in your practice sessions. The better the quality of your practice the sooner you will raise your level of confidence.
